An interesting mini-series about a fighter squadron in the early days of the second world war. A good portrayal of mistaken perceptions of the general population and those who fought, as well as an illustration of personality types and coping. Rather heavy-handed in that regard: a number of the characters are close to caricature. Interestingly, the series does a very good job of engendering, in the viewer, the feelings of tragedy and uncertainty that must have been part of that world. Production values aren't bad, but you can easily see where they saved money by re-using flight and fighting sequences over and over again: at times the obvious reiteration becomes distracting.
