Detective Inspector Alex Morrow is a witness in the case of Michael Brown, a vicious arms dealer, more brutal and damaged than most of the criminals she meets. During the trial, while he is in police custody, Brown's fingerprints are found at the scene of a murder in the Red Road flats. It is impossible that he could have been there, and it's a mystery that Morrow just can't let go.

Book 4 of the Alex Morrow series

The dialog was fragmented, and charachter development was lacking. HOWEVER, I can see that the author is a skilled and powerful writer, and suspect that one needs to read the first book to understand the Alex Morrow.
I lost patience after reading 30 pages.

Riveting and complex journey from (richly-deserved) murders committed on the night Princess Diana died in Paris - not a good night to say you cant remember where you were - through the present day copshops in Glasgow.

Love Mina's writing. Brilliant use of succinct language that moves us forward. No wasted words here. Nitty, gritty. Characters all shades of grey. No black and white thinking here. Protagonist Alex Morrow an interesting, complex character. Interesting no mention is made of her twins' names. Focus is on relationships, everyday challenges, not the cutesy. May not be appreciated by those used to middle class values, but certainly portrays the reality of those struggling to get through everyday life in a big rough city, including the detective.
Can't wait for her next book.

Started out well, then it became jagged, I had to keep looking at back chapters to see what was going on. Might be very clever stuff as the critics said, but I found it disjointed, confusing and couldn't be bothered finishing it.
