From 1999 to 2009, Chris Kyle recorded the most confirmed sniper kills in the history of the United States military. Kyle vividly recounts key battles, including the Race to Baghdad and the bloody fights at Fallujah, Ramadi, and Sadr City. He talks openly of the blood and pain of war, about being shot in both the helmet and back, and of witnessing the death of two close friends. He also provides a rare, first-hand glimpse at the elite world of the SEALs and combat snipers who, under America's strict military code, fought against a well-trained and organized opposition unencumbered by formal rules of engagement.

An amazing glimpse into the life of a dedicated American. An American soldier who put his life and the lives of his family on hold to do a job that few people in this country are willing or able to do. His abilities saved untold numbers of our soldiers in a deadly environment. We all should be proud of him and ones like him that worked so hard to keep us free and safe in the USA. Great book.

The book is a mixture of excitement, adventure and fear. I really enjoyed the book and I've read it several times. Chris Kyle is indeed one of my favorite snipers after Rob Furlong. This book pretty much motivated me to work out more and gave me the courage to be a better person

Interesting read and pretty easy for someone with zero military knowledge.

this is a pretty nice book. but the is a bit of swearing in the book. probably not for children from 1 to 5 or 4. this book shows what Navy Seals do but I wanted to know how he died not what the date is and this book wasn't the best book about Navy seals but I don't know about you guys but I would put it on the top 3 best sniper books and/or the best war books.

This is an amazing book and a great insights into the harsh realities of war and the effects it has on those who serve and protect our country. I would recommend this book to not only those interested in the military and worldwide conflicts, but for anyone else that is interested in current events happening around the world. I love how the book really gives you an insight into the lives of those who protect and how their lives outside of the military is effected. Great read, everyone should give this book a try!

American Sniper may not have been the most capturing book I've read, but has a really different way of looking at war. This book takes you to the perspective of America's greatest sniper. I don't tend to read autobiographies but I decided to read this book anyway, and it was a good choice. For young readers, it is complex, and you need to be focused when reading if you want to understand it. There are a lot of military terms that you may not be familiar with. Although I am 12, I would recommend this book to people older than 13. This book has realistic action and adventure, but beware, it can be graphic, and there is some mature language involved.

I started reading this book as part of "The Big Read." I must confess I couldn't get into it. But once I'd read a little it got quite gripping. The book is not all about one man killing tens of hundreds of enemy soldiers. On the contrary the most telling comment that Chris Kyle makes in the book is "It's not about the people you saved that you remember; it's the ones you couldn't save." We who are blase about war and sit on our couches and discuss the merits and demerits of an encounter ought to read this book which tells it from the frontlines.

Never thought I would like a book about war. However, this book was overpowering in the character study of a Navy Seal, the agonizing decisions being made and not only the sense of commitment to his Country but his personal sacrifices. I had an idea about Seals but did not REALLY know the depth of their personal unbegrudging commitments.

This is a very poorly written book. I have only stopped reading two books in my life, and this is the second one. Despite an interesting subject matter, the book moves at a monotonous pace and is very repetetive, yet not easy to follow. Way too much bragging. Not many cohesive thoughts expressed. Cannot recommend this book to anyone.

An good book with some morals. Way better then the movie. Learned a few things about Navy Seals.

Coarse Language: This book is a great story but is full of very coarse language, which ruins a lot of it for me.
