The undomestic Goddess is another one of Sophie Kinsella’s light hearted reads. This was a quick book to read during the summer. It revolves around Samantha, a workaholic who is striving to be the best lawyer she can possibly be. She has absolutely no time for anything except for work, she manages everything in 6 minute intervals, and always has her trusty black berry by her side, usually buzzing of emails. Things are looking good for Samantha until she makes the biggest mistake and there is no chance of any partnership for her. Depressed and alone, she gets on her train and ends up in a place she doesn’t know anything about. When she decides to ask for help, she is mistaken for a housekeeper wanting an interview and lands a job! The only problem is she has no idea what she’s doing. Samantha doesn’t know how to make 5 star meals or fold clothes or iron. This book is filled with hilarious accidents as Samantha tries to learn how to become a housekeeper and keep her big secret. As a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella books, I have to say this wasn’t my favorites. It was very unrealistic, her other books like Can you keep a secret and The shopaholic series are just more believable. The odds of Samantha’s situation are slim to none, so I didn’t cheer as much for her happy ending. Nevertheless, it was a good chic lit, a cute romance and some funny encounters. I recommend this to anyone looking for a cute, simple read.
