A well written, fast paced and terrifying medical thriller that builds in intensity right to the conclusion. The inside view of the mind and thoughts of the killer surgeon add to the fear and suspense of the novel. The epilogue was a great way to end the novel. There is good character development mainly with the gutsy, tough cop Jane Rizzoli who certainly has her issues in her male dominated career. I enjoyed Dr. Catharine Cordell and Thomas More, Rizzolis' partner. The descriptions are authentic and realistic and perhaps a bit too graphic but do add to the realism of the Surgeon and his killings. The multiple viewpoints give the novel a deeper dimension. Overall a satisfying and good read.
