Prior to reading this book I had just finished reading "The Rescue." One character in that book was a learning-disabled son. Reading "Three weeks with my brother" really shone a light on how Sparks draws from his personal life to write his novels. The interweaving of the trip with his brother with information about how they grew up was well crafted. Having traveled to several of the sites myself added to the connection I felt to the book.
